Syndicate Barbershop & The Trezise Family organize Houston Relief donations and it's amazing.

I am so lucky to call Syndicate Barbershop and the Trezise Family, good friends. For the last week, they've organized hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of donations from so many amazing people in Long Beach and surrounding areas. Tim Trezise went door to door for hours, until 3am picking up donations friends, family and followers left on their front porches for multiple nights. Monique ran around organizing peoples donations, responding to constant direct messages of people wanting to help and stop by their house to drop things off--all the while chasing, Zephyr, their 4 and a half year old around during the last years of her summer vacation. 8 days, 2-26 foot Uhauls, and a TON of boxes & tape later, all the goods are on the way to Houston!!!

I went and helped pack everything up in boxes and label everything on Wednesday so that we could get it all into the semi heading to Texas. To see all the love and kindness in peoples hearts as they came to drop off goods, from diapers to dog food to hairbrushes and kids toys, every bit helps.

I took a few minutes to snap a few photos to document the night and only a tiny part of something great.

Worship in Pink. Susan G. Komen, Los Angeles

August 5th, I worked with the Susan G. Komen foundation again for their yearly Worship in Pink event in Los Angeles. Did you know? Black women are more likely than other racial/ethnic groups to be diagnosed at later stages and have the lowest survival at each state of diagnosis [of breast cancer].

It was great to see the faces of people I met the year prior. Looking forward to more Susan G. Komen events in the future!

enjoy!

Barbers without Borders at The Sanctuary

I have been fortunate enough to work with a talented and amazing group of people known as the Barbers without Borders. Based in Newport, Kentucky, Barber Spanky Caudill and Stylist Joshua Wagner are the two men responsible for beginning such a selfless, non-profit to target disadvantaged youth in their community and across the world. Though it's much more than just a haircut, Caudill and Wagner's idea was to help individuals help themselves by making them feel better about their appearance and ultimately feel better about their situation. They provide people in other countries, who aren't as fortunate as others with tools, equipment and a place to learn & grow as a barber. Ricky Willis, a videographer and I had the pleasure of documenting this rad day at The Sanctuary in Costa Mesa. You can see what those guys are all about by clicking here.

Dre Perales, owner of Tip Top Barbershop and Black Market Art collaborated with Barbers without Borders this past Saturday for the backpack drive at The Sanctuary Church. The event was a total success! 11 barbers, 5 hours, 126 haircuts and 800 backpacks were handed out to the children to start their school year out right!!

There is so many amazing things to say about this group of people that I am grateful to call my friends. Check out their WEBSITE to learn more.

This link is a little tidbit of how great these guys are, as well. CLICK HERE.

Mike & Zo'e are getting married.

I am so honored to shoot these two. Photographing another creative is fun, nerve wracking but so rewarding. Seeing their face light up when you show them the images never gets old.

I can't wait to photograph your wedding.

Rubidoux High School Varsity Girls Volleyball

The Girls Varsity volleyball team at Rubidoux High School is cut throat! They know what they're doing and don't get in their way!! I photographed this team during their last few games before the end of the season, and ultimately, the last games for a few of the seniors entire high school career.
